How Borrowing Works

  • Tools are loaned for one week (7 days).

  • Members may renew a tool up to one additional week, before the Library closes on the day that the tool is due- via email, phone, online, or in person. A tool has been renewed when the Member receives email confirmation from the McMinnville Tool Library checkout and inventory software or from a McMinnville Tool Library staff or volunteer. McMinnville Tool Library reserves the right to refuse or limit renewals.

  • MTL is NOT allowing reservations at this time. Items are available on a first come, first served basis. We may allow tool reservations in the future.

  • If you retain a tool past its due date, without renewing its status, the tool will be delinquent and you may owe late fees or replacement costs.

Late fees vary by tool and are as follows:

HAND TOOLS, $1 per tool, per week late

POWER TOOLS, $5 per tool, per week late

(Power tools includes anything corded, cordless, and/or pneumatic)

A Member’s late fees must be paid in full before borrowing additional tools – at McMinnville Tool Library volunteer or staff discretion. McMinnville Tool Library also reserves the right to forgive fees at our discretion.
